Permanent Roofing Systems - Easy Metal Roofing - Paint Failure Page

In the summer of 2007 I installed Permanent Roofing Systems aluminum shingles on my house.  I did so after extensive discussions with the owner of the company.  I was impressed with the shingle design, as well as the flashing system they had developed.  Given that aluminum has been painted for years, and proper technique for paint application to aluminum is simple, I never for a minute was concerned about the finish.  The pictures on this page document the rapid failure of the paint, leaving me with a roof increasingly covered with bare aluminum shingles.

Permanent Roofing Systems claims to give a 50 year warranty on these shingles.  However, upon failure, they cease any communication.

Here are a few pictures showing the progressive failure.  Given the 1500 hours or so man-hours it took to install, it is heartbreaking.

To the left is the deck roof immediately after installation in 2007. 

Below shows the condition of the same area 2 1/2 years later. Notice that the flashing (purchasing locally) shows no paint failure at all.

Above left is 1 year later.  Above right is 2 years later.  I don't even want to look anymore.  Below is November 2011, 4 years after installation. Virtually all paint has flaked off.
